Have the Rutgers Geology Museum present at your library, summer camp, or community function this Summer! Rutgers geologists and Museum staff will visit your organization and present an activity aligned with the “Universe of Stories” theme of the New Jersey Summer Reading Program.
The Museum offers programs for two age levels, and each takes about 45 minutes to 1 hour.
When: Monday through Friday during the month of August, subject to availability. Weekends are available for an additional fee.
Where: Your location must be within a 50-mile radius of the Rutgers New Brunswick Campus.
If over 50 miles away, additional fees may apply.
Cost: $50 for one program or $75 for both programs.
Price is based on a maximum of 30 children per program. Contact us for larger group pricing.
Join the staff of the Rutgers Geology Museum to learn about meteorites, how craters are made, and have a chance to make and measure your own crater! Activity followed by a hands-on, space-themed craft and time to “Ask the Geologist.” This program is recommended for children up to 4th grade.
Mars Rover Racing
Join the staff of the Rutgers Geology Museum for an interactive activity to learn how scientists communicate with and pilot the Mars Rover from over 140 million miles away! Activity followed by a hands-on, space-themed craft and time to “Ask the Geologist.” This program is recommended for children in 5th grade and above.
**The rover activity requires some prior setup and floor space. We recommend either a hallway and a separate room or one room with some type of divider/partition to separate the two participating groups of children so they cannot see what the other group is doing.**
