The 50th Annual Rutgers University Geology Museum Open House will take place on Saturday January 27, 2018 between 9 am and 3 pm. All events will be held in Scott Hall and the Rutgers Geology Museum located on the College Avenue Campus in New Brunswick, NJ. Mineral Sale

  • 9 am to 3 pm, Scott Hall Room 135
  • Credit card, checks and cash now accepted!
  • 6.625% NJ sales tax will be applied to all purchases. Customers must provide proof of tax exempt status for the tax to be waived.

Lecture Series

All lectures will be held in Scott Hall Room 123.

10 am to 11 am: "New Jersey Fisheries in a Global Context"

2 pm to 3 pm: "The Appalachians and How They Got That Way: Structure and Dynamics of Eastern North America"
Dr. Maureen Long, Department of Geology and Geophysics, Yale University

All kids activities are free and no pre-registration is required.

Make-and-Take Activities and Guest Appearances

All make-and-take arts and crafts activities and guest appearance will be held in the Geology Museum between 11 am and 2:30 pm.

Rock and Mineral Identification

Rock and mineral identification will be held in Scott Hall Room 205 between 11 am and 2 pm. 

Guided Tours of the Historic Schanck Observatory

Guided tours of the observatory will be given throughout the day on a first-come, first-served basis. Reservations must be made in advance.
